Pediatric After-Hours Care
What do you do when your child has a fever, or suffered a fall, and your regular doctor’s office is closed? Or maybe there’s a situation that doesn’t look serious enough for an emergency room visit, but you want to see a doctor as soon as possible. That’s when the MarinHealth Pediatric After-Hours Care Clinic's a valuable option. Staffed by board certified pediatricians and located in San Rafael, our Pediatric After-Hours Clinic is Marin County’s only after-hours clinic exclusively for children under 18.
Pediatric Hospitalists
MarinHealth Pediatric Hospitalists are available at MarinHealth Medical Center 24/7 to attend to high-risk deliveries, care for critically ill neonatal patients and to care for pediatric patients in the Emergency Department as well as those admitted to the Medical Center.
Ouchless Emergency Department
A trip to the Emergency Department (ED) can be scary for both children and their parents. That’s why MarinHealth Medical Center features an Ouchless ED incorporating child-friendly protocols that help take the anxiety and pain out of visits.
Physicians and Emergency Department Staff have had extensive training in distraction and sensitivity techniques to calm and reassure young patients.
Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP)
The ED at MarinHealthMedical Center has been designated as an Emergency
Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) by Marin County Emergency Medical
Services Agency. This designation is the result of a two-year effort to
optimize emergency care to better meet the needs of children and their families.
Specialized Care for Children—Before They are Born!
Our care for children begins even before they arrive, in the form of our expert prenatal and maternity care. We also offer access to specialized perinatal and neonatal care, thanks to our alliance with UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
UCSF Perinatologists and Neonatologists
For high-risk pregnancies, our obstetricians work closely with UCSF Health perinatologist. These UCSF Health experts monitor mother and baby throughout the high-risk pregnancy.
Our Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) also works closely with UCSF Health neonatologists—doctors who specialize in newborns—who are available 24/7 for consultation to help direct the care of preemies and newborns with specific health issues.
