Chris O'Brien Appointed Vice President of Payer Relations at Marin General Hospital
GREENBRAE, CA — Marin General Hospital has appointed Chris O'Brien as Vice President of Payer Relations. O'Brien will be responsible for developing and implementing contracting strategies with all payers, direct contract negotiations, and contract compliance oversight. In addition, he will develop system-wide managed care initiatives and support Marin General Hospital's affiliated organizations.
O'Brien will report to Marin General Hospital Chief Financial Officer David Cox.
An experienced executive, O'Brien, 50, formerly served as Blue Shield of California's Director of PPO Professional and Direct HMO Networks. He directed a statewide team that expanded Blue Shield's PPO Professional Network throughout the State, as well as leading and participating in many other key Blue Shield of California initiatives.
"Chris brings a strategic managed care mindset to this role, which is important as we chart the future of Marin General Hospital," said Cox.
O'Brien is a graduate of the State University of New York at Old Westbury and has a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration from Iona College where he graduated at the top of his class.
