Dr. Patrick Bennett Honored as Volunteer of the Year
“Heart of Marin” award recognizes work with Marin Community Clinics and Operation Access
GREENBRAE, CA — Dr. Patrick Bennett, a member of Marin Urology since 1996, has been awarded the Heart of Marin Volunteer of the Year award for his work helping Marin County's underserved residents. Heart of Marin Awards recognize outstanding Marin nonprofits and the committed individuals who serve them.
Since 1996, Dr. Bennett has volunteered for Marin Community Clinics and Operation Access, providing specialty care for patients once a month. In 2012, he served 74 clinic patients and provided eight surgical procedures. He was nominated by the two nonprofits and selected from among 34 nominees. He received the award at a January 10 gala luncheon held at the Marin Center Exhibit Hall that was sponsored by the Center for Non-Profit and Volunteer Leadership and attended by nearly 800 Marin dignitaries and civic leaders.
A Marin native who grew up in San Rafael and attended Saint Ignatius College Preparatory School in San Francisco, Dr. Bennett graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University, then received his MD at the University of California, San Francisco. After completing two years of general surgery training and his urology residency at Massachusetts General, he returned to Marin to practice. He received Certification from the American Board of Urology in 1998 and is a member of the American Urologic Association and the American Medical Association. He is on the medical staffs of Marin General Hospital, Novato Community Hospital, and Kentfield Rehabilitation and Specialty Hospital.
