Marin General Hospital Foundation’s annual black-tie gala, An Affair to Remember, was held on Saturday, May 18, 2013, in an exquisite tented venue in downtown Sausalito. Gala Chairs, Mike & Sharon Stone welcomed nearly 500 attendees who enjoyed an elegant dinner prepared by McCall’s Catering and dancing to the music of Encore. Net proceeds of $250,000 were raised for the Emergency Department & Trauma Services. Click here to watch the video that was shown to our gala attendees.
As the only designated Trauma Center in Marin County, Marin General Hospital’s Emergency Department treats approximately 35,000 patients annually. Because of this high volume, it was determined that the expansion of the Emergency Department and Trauma Services be addressed immediately rather than wait until the hospital replacement project is completed in 2018.
With the help of philanthropic support, Phases I and II of the Emergency Department expansion have been recently completed. This project added five rapid medical evaluation (RME) stations to treat low acuity patients quickly and privately - and a room with special accommodations for pediatric patients. A new waiting area was also completed, nearly twice the size of the previous one, with natural light and access to the outdoor patio.
Phases III and IV are slated for implementation and construction in 2013-14. Phase III will begin by addressing the following aspects of the project:
- Further enhancement of triage capacity and capability
- Increased imaging capability and access within the department
