Local performer and chanteuse Susan Zelinsky established the event in 1998 after both her mother and stepmother were diagnosed with breast cancer. "At first I just felt helpless and scared, but then I decided I could make a difference for cancer patients and people who knew little or nothing about the disease.” To date, she has raised over $100,000 for local charities focused on breast cancer research, treatment and support.
Bob Kaliski, Harbor Charitable Foundation Board Chair, stated “The evening is a celebration of the indomitable spirit of women and men who have battled breast cancer, as well as the charities and community that support them. We are especially grateful to Marin General Hospital, our title sponsor, and Bellam Self Storage, our presenting sponsor.”
