Innovative gowns have patients covered at Marin General Hospital
Soft, comfortable apparel an investment in patient satisfaction, CEO says
GREENBRAE, CA — It’s not the hospital’s construction plans or the latest lifesaving technology that has everyone talking these days at Marin General Hospital.
The current buzz among both patients and staff is about the hospital’s newest investment – a new collection of patient gowns that provide more options and increase overall satisfaction for its patients. Introduced throughout Marin General Hospital’s facilities in October, the new gowns, made by PatientStyle, offer patients an enhanced level of comfort and dignity.
Made of soft, pajama-like material, the gowns have been designed with extra fabric and side ties that prevent unnecessary or embarrassing exposure. Specific styles include mammography tops in feminine colors, nursing gowns with hidden access slits, and modesty gowns featuring full-length sleeves and optional hoods. All gowns are created with the caregiver in mind as well, and easily accommodate medical treatments, equipment and monitoring devices.
“These new gowns are a true investment in patient satisfaction,” says Marin General Hospital CEO Lee Domanico. “While it’s crucial to invest in the most effective treatments and technology, it’s equally important to show our patients we care about their comfort and dignity.”
Dusty Eber, president of PatientStyle, says he was inspired to find a solution to the shortcomings of traditional gowns when his wife was in the hospital with their first child. “Traditional hospital gowns haven’t gotten an upgrade in years,” he says. “These newly designed gowns give health care facilities the opportunity to provide their communities with something better.”
The PatientStyle collection at Marin General includes adult and maternity gowns; pediatric and infant sleepers, pajamas and gowns, as well as crib sheets and blankets.
Marin General Hospital is the most recent hospital to invest in the new style gowns. Others include: Stanford Medical Center, Emory University Hospital, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and Mayo Clinic.
