Marin General Hospital Gala Raises Nearly $1.3 Million for NEW Structural Heart Program
GREENBRAE, CA — More than 500 guests attended Marin General Hospital Foundation’s Annual Black-Tie Gala on Saturday, May 19, 2018. This year’s event was themed “The Roaring 20’s” and it was held at an exquisite tented venue in Sausalito. Guests were decked out in flapper style with feathers, sequins, and pearls adding glamour to a magical evening.
Lee Domanico, Chief Executive Officer, and his wife Mariko, kicked off the festivities by dancing The Charleston to the delight of all in attendance.
This year’s gala beneficiary, Marin General Hospital’s Structural Heart Program, featuring TAVR, grossed nearly $1.3M in proceeds. TAVR is a revolutionary procedure that involves threading a catheter with a prosthetic valve through a blood vessel in the patient’s groin and up to the heart. It effectively replaces the defective valve – providing symptom relief and improved quality of life. Originally developed as an option for patients too frail for open-heart surgery, TAVR is anticipated to become the standard of care for most intermediate and low risk aortic stenosis patients in the future.
“The hospital is committed to providing the most advanced care for our patients. We are pleased to announce the Structural Heart Program as an innovative new enhancement to Marin General Hospital’s cardiovascular capabilities. This launch of this program reinforces the dedication of our cardiovascular team to remain at the forefront of technology and bring the most state-of-the-art procedures to our community,” said Lee Domanico, Chief Executive Officer, Marin General Hospital.
“It has been a pleasure to ensure the continued growth of our comprehensive cardiovascular services for our community. As a not-for-profit community hospital we rely on philanthropic gifts to make a difference. I want to express my deepest gratitude to all those who made this event a success.” said Liz Kolcun, Chief Fund Development Officer, Marin General Hospital and President, Marin General Hospital Foundation.
