Marin General Hospital Foundation’s 26th annual golf tournament, A Taste of New Orleans, was held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Marin Country Club in Novato.

Marin General Hospital Foundation’s 27th annual Golf Tournament, A Taste of New Orleans, raised over $230,000 net for Marin General Hospital’s Vascular Program. The tournament was held on Monday, September 24th at Marin Country Club in Novato. Event Co-chairs, Spencer and Jeanne Wang, Mike and Cheryl Boufford together with sponsors, kick-off the tournament the evening before with a phenomenal New Orleans style dinner complete with Cajun music and gracious hospitality from our hosts, Neil & Kathy Hennessy.

The tournament began with the sounds of the trombone and large horn sending off over a hundred golfers to their starting tees. Oasis areas on the course featured Gospel singers and traditional New Orleans cuisine food trucks. Unfortunately, none of our golfers won the Porsche provided by Porsche Marin (our Hole-in-One Sponsor). Our gratitude to our volunteers and representatives from corporate sponsors.

Dr. Joel Sklar, our Emcee extraordinaire for the evening, shared how much the beneficiary program meant to him personally. “I’ve been practicing cardiovascular medicine at Marin General since 1982. As you know, the blood vessels all connect to the heart so I think I have a little perspective on vascular medicine in Marin.” He applauded Dr. Pak for her surgical and interventional skills, personal drive and dedication. In recent years, with Dr. Pak’s affiliation with the Marin Healthcare District, she has recruited two wonderful partners, Stanford faculty members Tina Desai, MD and Neelima Katragunta, MD who have joined the vascular program. Sirona Vascular now extends into Santa Rosa, Napa and Sonoma, and has been awarded top accolades from Healthgrades. “As Chief Medical Officer, I oversee the physicians at our hospital and spend focused time in areas of quality and patient safety. And I can tell you without fear of contradiction that our Vascular Program is fantastic.”
