First Marin baby of 2021 makes an entrance New Year’s Day at 8:04 a.m. PT!

A girl born to Mill Valley residents Yanyan Yang and father Nannan Zhao claimed the title of Marin’s First Baby of the Year Friday at MarinHealth Medical Center.

The 8 pound, 8 ounce baby was delivered January 1, 2001 at 8:04 a.m. PT by certified nurse midwife Erinn Burke Lance.

Phoebe Zhao is the third child of Yanyan Yang, 31, and Nannan Zhao, 37, who reside in Mill Valley.

MarinHealth spokesperson Jamie Maites says the hospital prepared a special basket of goodies for the First Baby.

"This is a wonderful way to start the New Year," said Anne Lupus, MSN,CNL,RN, Director of Maternity Services and NICU at MarinHealth Medical Center. "It’s an honor to welcome a new member to a loving family—and especially exciting when it’s the first one of the year."
