MarinHealth Opens its First Urgent Care Clinic

New San Rafael Location Now Offers County Residents Non-Emergent Medical Treatment

MarinHealth announced today the opening of its first Urgent Care Clinic. MarinHealth Urgent Care | A UCSF Health Clinic, located at 4000 Civic Center Drive Suite 206 in San Rafael, features a dedicated entrance and waiting room, and shares space with MarinHealth’s Outpatient Imaging Center (for X-rays), allowing for quick diagnosis of fractures and sprains during daytime hours.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 10 am – 8 pm, and Saturday and Sunday 9 am – 5 pm Pacific Time. The clinic accepts walk-ins, and it can typically offer same-day appointments for those who prefer to call to avoid a wait at the clinic.

Children 3 months and older can be treated at MarinHealth Urgent Care. In addition, specialized care for children is provided by pediatricians at the MarinHealth Pediatric After-Hours Care Clinic in Larkspur, open evenings and weekends.

A Place for Urgent, Non-Emergent Treatment

Services at the clinic include medical care for illnesses or injuries that require prompt attention but typically are not serious enough to require the services of an emergency department. As part of MarinHealth’s complete care model, the new clinic will provide access to a full spectrum of high-quality primary, specialty, and urgent care.

“We are excited to launch this new urgent care endeavor, and we look forward to serving the Marin community with the same trusted, quality of care they’ve come to expect from the team at MarinHealth Medical Center.” said Dr. David G. Klein, Chief Executive Officer, MarinHealth.

Patients can visit MarinHealth Urgent Care for a variety of non-emergency medical issues, including treatment for upper respiratory infections, colds and flu (including the flu vaccine), asthma, allergies, minor lacerations, sore throats, insect bites and rashes, among other conditions. Onsite doctors can diagnose and treat a broad array of conditions. Rapid testing for flu, strep throat, mononucleosis, UTIs and other conditions are also available. MarinHealth Urgent Care is not currently administering COVID-19 tests, treatment, or vaccines. All patients will be screened when arriving or calling for an appointment. If a person has COVID-19 symptoms, they will be referred to MarinHealth’s Adult Acute Care Clinic for care.

MarinHealth and UCSF Health have a long history of collaborating to provide exceptional primary and specialty care to residents of the North Bay through their network of clinics and at MarinHealth Medical Center. The clinics deliver a wide range of care, from pediatrics and OB/GYN to rheumatology, cardiology and urology.

As part of the collaboration, urgent care patients have access to MyChart, UCSF Health’s secure online patient portal, where they can easily view medical information and communicate with providers.
