MarinHealth Medical Center Earns an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group
Today, The Leapfrog Group released its new Hospital Safety Grade report, awarding MarinHealth Medical Center an “A” in acknowledgement of its standards for excellence in patient care and its efforts to protect patients and meet the highest hospital safety standards in the U.S.
Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grade rating system uses stringent criteria to assess hospitals’ safety and quality of care. Its A, B, C, D, or F letter grades offer a quick, simple way for consumers to choose the safest hospital to seek care. The grade uses more than 30 measures of safety data, including rates of preventable errors, injuries, and infections, while also accounting for whether hospitals have systems in place to protect patients from harm.
“Patient safety is and always will be our top priority, and we continually make efforts to assess and improve it,” said MarinHealth CEO David Klein, MD. “We are honored to be acknowledged by Leapfrog. It’s recognition that we deliver on our promise to provide high-quality, world-class care. I am so grateful to our team.”
“We’re proud of the A grade, but more importantly, it’s an opportunity to recognize our team’s commitment to providing exceptional patient care. It’s a testament to our team’s hard work, dedication, and compassion,” said MarinHealth Medical Director of Quality Susan Cumming, MD.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public.
