Kristen Chen, MD

About Provider Dr. Kristen Chen was born and raised in Southern California. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California where she studied Neuroscience and Fine Arts Painting, graduating Magna Cum Laude and a distinguished Renaissance Scholar. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin during which time she spent an additional year studying the disease mechanisms of dermatomyositis at the University of Pennsylvania Autoimmune Disease Unit. She then completed her Dermatology Residency at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health where she served as Chief Resident. She served on the American Academy of Dermatology Residents and Fellow Committee during that time and currently serves on the Women's Dermatologic Community Service Committee and Public Education Committee. She is widely published in premier dermatologic journals including the Journal of Investigative Dermatology and the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology.

Dr. Chen’s clinical practice focuses on medical and surgical dermatology. She sees both adult and pediatric patients for a variety of skin conditions including but not limited to eczema, psoriasis, acne, hair loss, vitiligo, rashes, and annual skin cancer screenings. Her practice philosophy is based on partnering with her patients and providing compassionate, high quality, and evidenced-based care. She is a firm believer in honest and clear communication as well as prioritizing and advocating for her patients. While she has loved living in Wisconsin, she is very excited to move back to California and to serve the patients of Marin. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, cooking, and spending time outside with her husband, family, and friends.
