Dr. Neal Birnbaum is pleased to be joining MarinHealth Rheumatology after many years practicing at Pacific Rheumatology Associates in San Francisco. He was previously Chief of Rheumatology at California Pacific Medical Center and is Clinical Professor of Medicine at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

Dr. Birnbaum believes in partnering with patients to achieve an accurate diagnosis and offer the best treatments. Throughout his career, he has enjoyed the diagnostic challenges of rheumatology and the opportunity to work with his patients in developing their individualized treatment programs. Dr. Birnbaum is excited about the advent of many new and effective therapies over the past 25 years.

His clinical expertise has been recognized in Castle Connolly Top Doctors. As past president of the American College of Rheumatology, he was honored to be named an American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Master in 2011. Dr. Birnbaum received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the California Rheumatology Alliance in 2018.

When not seeing patients, he enjoys international travel with his wife, playing with his grandchildren, and golfing on Sundays.
