Vivek Iyer, MD,MSE,FHRS
Vivek Iyer, MD, MSE is a cardiac electrophysiologist, specializing in treating heart rhythm abnormalities.
Dr. Iyer completed undergraduate studies in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, also earning an MSE (Master’s) degree in Biomedical Engineering. His medical school training was completed at Harvard Medical School, followed by clinical training at Columbia University Medical Center. Subsequently, as faculty at Columbia University, his work resulted in over 30 peer-reviewed publications, with a particular focus on advanced catheter ablation techniques and understanding fundamental mechanisms for arrhythmia formation. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
Dr. Iyer specializes in the management of complex cardiac arrhythmia and advanced ablation techniques. He has a special clinical interest in ventricular tachycardia (VT) and atrial fibrillation (AF) management, including the use of catheter ablation, epicardial access techniques, ablation supported by LVAD/percutaneous LVAD, advanced mapping technologies, and percutaneous left atrial appendage occlusion. He is well-versed in all aspects of modern cardiac pacemaker and defibrillator device implantation and management. In addition, he is happy to provide judicious electrophysiology consultation as well as second opinions regarding management of arrhythmia.
After almost 13 years in New York, Dr. Iyer joined the Cardiovascular Associates of Marin and San Francisco group and now practices Cardiac Electrophysiology at MarinHealth Medical Center. He lives in San Francisco with his wife, and enjoys being able to treat arrhythmias and care for the community, all while playing tennis year-round.
