Gynecologic Cancer
The diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the female reproductive system, including the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina, and vulva, falls under a subspecialty known as gynecologic surgery. Research has demonstrated improved outcomes for gynecologic cancer patients who are being treated by this type of specialist.
As with many types of cancer, treatment for gynecological cancers often involves multiple modalities, such as chemotherapy, and/or radiation therapy and surgery. Through our alliance with UCSF Health, women in Marin who need gynecologic oncology surgery can be treated by a UCSF gynecologic oncologist right here in Marin.
Our team provides new patient consultations, diagnostic pelvic exams, referrals for diagnostic imaging and biopsies as indicated, advice on the latest therapies available, clinical trial opportunities, standard treatments, education, and genetic counseling for high-risk patients.
Robotic Surgery for Ultra Precision
While robotic-assisted surgery has proven to be a marvelous surgical tool, successful outcomes ultimately depend on the surgeon’s skill and experience. Our team works with a medical expert in gynecologic cancers who has specialized training in both laparoscopic and robotic gynecological surgery. We use using the da Vinci Xi® surgical system for a variety of procedures:
- Hysterectomy
- Myomectomy
- Endometriosis
- Ovarian Cystectomy
- Sacrocolpopexy
- Bilateral Oophorectomy
