Imaging Services

Imaging Services

Our Diagnostic Imaging Team & Radiologist physicians are dedicated to providing our patients with best-in-class technologies, using the most advanced X-ray, CT, MRI, molecular imaging, PET/CT imaging and ultrasound equipment, all coupled with state-of-the-art computer technology.

Our Services Include:

Bone Density Testing
Bone density testing is used to diagnose and monitor osteopenia and osteoporosis (bone loss). Testing is provided using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, an advanced bone density test known as DEXA.

Cardiovascular Imaging
MarinHealth provides cardiovascular testing, imaging and diagnostics to: Diagnose an urgent condition, such as an apparent heart attack; screen people who have been experiencing chest pain or shortness of breath or have an intermediate to high risk for heart disease and to proactively detect early signs of heart disease.

CT Scans
Computer-assisted tomography (CT) combines multiple X-ray images of the body from different angles to create a cross-section, 3D view of the scanned area. Our experts have access to two latest-generation 256-slice and 64-slice scanners.

Fluoroscopy
Fluoroscopy can be described as an X-ray “movie.” This imaging technique allows the radiologist to view X-rays of a body part moving in real time.

Interventional Radiology
A medical specialty that uses sophisticated image guidance to deliver minimally invasive, precisely targeted treatments. Interventional radiology is increasingly replacing conventional surgical techniques for a wide range of conditions.

Mammography
In keeping with our commitment to the early diagnosis of breast cancer, our Breast Health Center utilizes 3D digital mammography, along with computer-assisted diagnosis for ALL mammograms. Our Breast Health Center provides procedural services involved in the diagnosis and management of breast cancer.

Molecular Imaging / Nuclear Medicine
Whereas other types of diagnostic imaging procedures offer detailed pictures of physical structures in the body, molecular imaging uses targeted radiopharmaceuticals to illustrate what is happening inside the body at the cellular and molecular level. PET imaging is included within this subspecialty of imaging.

MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) produces images using a strong magnetic field and radio waves. MarinHealth is the only medical network in our region to utilize a 3 Tesla (3T) MRI system, a high field strength digital broadband MRI scanner that delivers exceptionally accurate and detailed images.

PET Imaging
PET Imaging is a noninvasive form of imaging which has a significant impact on the diagnosis and management of many diseases. The most common use is a single scan of your whole body to detect, localize, stage, and monitor cancer, both before, during, and after treatment.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound examinations use high-frequency sound waves that are transmitted through skin tissues to create an image.

X-ray Imaging
Small, controlled doses of ionizing radiation are used to image parts inside the body. X-ray technology has evolved considerably over the decades. We provide the highest fidelity direct digital X-ray units at our main campus and our Outpatient Imaging Centers in Greenbrae and San Rafael. This advanced technology reduces X-ray exposure to our patients.
