Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology

Many conditions that once required surgery can now be treated using interventional radiology, a growing medical specialty that uses image guidance to deliver minimally invasive, precisely targeted treatments. Our interventional radiologists are board-certified, fellowship trained physicians.

While no treatment is risk-free, the risks of interventional procedures are generally lower than those of open surgery – a major advance in medicine. Compared to conventional surgery, interventional radiology provides patients with several important advantages:

  • No large incisions
  • Shortened or no hospital stay
  • General anesthesia is rarely required
  • Less expensive than surgery
  • Risk, pain and recovery time are often reduced
