Sophisticated Kidney Care
Our MarinHealth Urologists are specially trained to asses and treat kidney stones and other kidney conditions impacting both male and female patients. If you suspect one of the following kidney issues, book an appointment today.
Kidney Stones
Kidney stones, sometimes called renal calculi, are formed when dissolved
minerals build up on the inner lining of the kidneys. The stones, usually
made of a calcium compound, can be so small as to pass unnoticed. However,
they can also cause extreme pain in the abdomen, flank, or groin when
passing through the urinary tract, or grow too large—even as big
as a golf ball—for the body to excrete.

Kidney Blockage / UPJ Obstruction
Kidney blockage occurs when parts of the kidney becomes obstructed, including
ureteral obstruction, a blockage in one or both ureters (tubes) that move
urine from the kidneys to the bladder, and ureteropelvic junction (UPJ)
obstruction, a blockage that most commonly occurs at the renal pelvis,
which connects the kidney to the ureters. Following proper diagnosis,
our expert urologists are trained to remove blockages via
minimally invasive surgery.
Kidney Cancer
Kidney cancer does not usually cause symptoms until it is fairly advanced.
The choice of treatment for kidney cancer depends on the aggressiveness
of the tumor, whether and how much the disease has spread, and the patient’s
general health and lifestyle considerations. Surgery is considered the
primary treatment for most kidney cancers as they are resistant to radiation
and chemotherapy.

Renal Mass
A renal mass, or renal tumor, is an abnormal growth found in the kidney,
which can be either cystic (having fluid) or solid, and can be benign
or cancerous. Most renal masses are benign, but many do require intervention.
Our urologists use CT, MRI, or ultrasound imaging to diagnose masses,
and specialize in surgical treatment to remove masses if needed.
